OK, so maybe we can't deliver baskets of food to people when we build a website but one question that we get asked by a lot of new amazed clients is, "How do you do all of this and, at the same time, keep it affordable for me?" Well, we only do what works and we just refuse to waste time on things that don't.
We'll be completely upfront and honest with you. If you want all of the bells and whistles which don't provide as much value relative to their cost (or actually detracts) like a "Flash splash page" then we are not the company for you. However, if you want a highly successful yet extremely affordable small business website design to help your business generate more and more sales without having to spend more and more money, they we are the company for you.
It's really funny but when people build a house, their contractor would never build something that they know wouldn't work just because the client wanted it. For example, they would never put a pool on the roof (unless it's a skyrise condominium building). But other small business website design companies consistently fulfill demands that clients make even if they know that those demands cost more money and are less effective (some even have a negative affect).
Let's use the "Flash splash page" as an example since everybody and their mother seems to want them. If you were to talk to 100 internet marketers, at least 99 of them would say, "Never use a splash page!" (BTW, a splash page is a highly animated or video intro page to the site that serves no other purpose other than to add some flashiness to the site.)
Why do they say this? There are two reasons: they don't give the visitor anything of value; and they are an extra step.
For optimal success, you should strive to have every single page of your site give something of value to your visitors. Even order pages should have some little tidbit of value. Splash pages do not give anything of value to the visitor. They're the equivalent of "trying to look cool". If you have to "try to look cool", you're not cool.
Even more important than the "value problem" is the fact that splash pages ask the visitor to do one of two things: wait or click.
The problem with having them wait for some video to complete is that every second is critical to getting them to purchase. The longer they have to wait to get through to your small business website design's information, the lower your conversion rates will be.
Even worse than that, as bad as that's, is this: if they get bored or just get tired of waiting they might hit the "Back" button and leave your site with a bad taste in their mouth. Unlike a physical store which takes the customer time to get to, find what they need and leave, it takes website visitors less than a second to leave your site. If that happens, it will be almost impossible to win them back as a client.
So why do we mention all of this? It's pretty simple really. Each small business website design we create is focused on profitability. We have a proven process that delivers the best bang for your buck. We're kind of like the Costco of web site designers.
